RV Types and Descriptions

Luxury Bus or Coach:
The largest, most luxurious Class A Motorhome. Fully loaded and equipped for short trips, lengthy vacations and fulltiming. They are often times built on custom undercarriages or on a three to ten ton truck chassis. The most expensive type of RV, in most cases offering the ultimate in features; increased basement storage, washer and dryers, satellite dishes, DVD players, surround sound systems back-up cameras, hydraulic leveling, security systems, and in some cases hot tubs.
Class A Motorhome:
Commonly referred to as the conventional motorhome, the Class A is entirely constructed on a bare, specially designed motor vehicle medium duty truck chassis or in many cases on custom undercarriages. Engines are Gas or diesel.  Size ranges from 21 to 42 feet. Sleeps up to 10 people depending on design.Type A motorhomes are spacious and available with every conceivable luxury. Class motorhomes may have Slideouts which allows a portion of the RVs exterior wall to slide outward as much as 4 feet to enlarge the area of the coach. No special license is required for operating a Class A motorhome.
Class B Motorhome:
Commonly referred to as the van camper or van conversion. Engines may be Gas or diesel. Class B motorhomes are fully self-contained, with a refrigerator, sink, hot water, air conditioning and heater aas well as sleeping facilities.  Their Size ranges from 16 to 22 feet. They generally sleep up to 4 people. The Class B is most economical, versatile and maneuverable of the motorized RVs. Many have showers and toilet facilities including holding tanks for your fresh water and waste water. They make a good towing vehicle for small camping trailers or boats or other small towable toys.
Class C Motorhome:
Commonly referred to as a mini motorhome or just mini, provides all the conveniences of a larger motorhome in a smaller version and at a lower price point. The type C is built on a custom automotive manufactured van frame including an attached cab section. The mini motorhome ranges in size from 20 to 32 feet and sleeps: up to 6 people comfortably. Class C motorhomes usually have a sleeping quarter over the cab in addition to a bedroom in the rear sometimes allowing more sleeping space then a class A. Normally equipped with full sleeping area, kitchen, dining and bathroom facilities. May or may not contain a slideout.
Travel Trailer:
Designed to be towed by a pickup truck, SUV or even a car for ultra lite weight trailers by means of a bumper or frame hitch. Sizes range from 12 - 36 feet, and can sleep up to 10 people depending on design. As with all towables, unit can be detached at any time allowing you to use the tow vehicle for other things. Travel trailers are available with all modern conveniences of home for sleeping, showering, cooking, and dining. Available in many differnet floor plans and options. Slide outs may or may not be included. Pop-up travel trailers offer improved fuel economy.
Fifth Wheel Travel Trailer (Fiver)
Designed to towed by a pickup truck with a special hitch in the truck bed, these split level rvs can provide the most living space of all towable RVs thus making them extremely popular for fulltimes. 5th wheels size ranges from 20 - 40 feet and can sleep up to ten people depending on design. As they can be unhitched at any time they free up the tow vehicle for other uses. With the main bedroom located over the truck bed, there is more room in the living section of the trailer. Most models offer at least one slideout. Due to the special hitch all fifth wheel travel trailers require a properly equipped full-size pickup truck or a custom tow vehicle. Fifth Wheels are available with a wide range of features and appliances ranging from the basics to those found on high end motorhomes such as washers and dryers etc..
Folding Camping Trailer (Tent Trailer, Pop-Up)
A lightweight rv with sides that collapse for towing and storage. Sizes range from 8-13 feet when closed and 15 to 25 feet when open. They sleep up to ten people depending on design. The low price and easy storage appeals to many new rvers as a smooth entry into RVing. the relative low weight allows for towing by most vehicles check with your dealer. Folding tent trailers offer a kitchen area, dining and sleeping facilities and may contain amenities such as stoves, refrigerators and showers depending on the design. These units generally have very limited storage space.
